p.s - two more photos that didnt make it in the last blog... technical difficulties.

1 - ruins of a theatre in the palatine hill (apart from the forum, the most famous part of ancient rome and the site of the most expensive houses and games for the nobility or patriciate)

2 - me at a great osteria in montalcino - beautiful food and beautiful view out from this table onto the countryside below. (pasta is fantastic, but in my humble opinion, nonni's is better still!!! )

will get some more photos of em up soon!! x

Ciao belle,

We are very excited for you both, but also very envious! Nonni says Elisabetta will be home on the 25th, give her a call, she is looking forward to meeting you! Enjoy the rest of the trip (*Ann is green*)!

Tanti baci da Nonni, Anna, et Daniella xoxoxo

You know, I am enjoying Italy much more through your eyes than I did through my own!! The photos are beautiful and I'm loving hearing your stories (interesting how prominent food is...!!!). It would have been amazing to hear the monks chanting.

Em you'll find this funny - I started aqua aerobics today and the class was full of octogenarians!! They looked at me as if I were an interloper.

Happy travels,
xoxox Lau

ciao nonni, anna e Daniella!!

thank you for the message. Dont't worry Ann, I am positive you will be back soon. I know now that I have been over, it wont be long until I return. Dani - you have to get over here its amazing!!

Please give Nonni my love. Everywhere I go I can't help but think of her and how much she would love it here.

We had a great lazy day today in Montalcino - spent most of it in the park near the main church reading and eating a long lunch, looking out over the tuscan valley below. in our post lunch walk we managed to greet a few fellow walkers - older montalcinesi - and shock them with our thong wearing (although we won them over with our buonasera's!).

Hope all is well at home. Love to all! Simone. xxx

hey lau,

food is prominent, yes - definately one of the things i did not want to scrimp on whilst in italy. i have decided that our pizza's meet the mark, although they are definately australianised (and yes there is room to introduce the typically sparse yet tantilising italian style), but our pasta doesnt even come close - how can you beat hand rolled spaghetti! phil, if you read this, i maintain that there is a market for home made gnocchi even if it is expensive (labour intensive) to make.

the aqua aerobics sounds great! i can imagine how it might feel to be stared down by a octogenarian - they are everywhere in montalcino and often sim and i are stared at intently - ive found meeting them with a genuine smile and confident buongiorno seems to appease! the oldies at work are usually great conversationalists once you get them started and often have interesting stories to tell of times gone by - you might make some friends!

more stories on the trip later..

love em xxx
